At The Fort we are deeply committed to creating a luxurious experience that is also environmentally responsible. Our sustainability efforts are designed to reduce our ecological footprint while maintaining the highest standards of comfort and service for our guests.

We believe that we can live harmoniously with the environment and our project at The Fort is about showing guests how this is possible. From renewable energy solutions to water conservation, we are proud to share the steps we have taken to contribute to a more sustainable future.

Harnessing Renewable Energy

The Fort Hostel operates entirely on clean, renewable energy through our advanced solar power set up. Our panels are strategically placed on the roof of the dorms, installed at the highest point of the land to capture maximum sunlight, subsequently providing pure clean energy to the entire property. Our hostel is able to generate over 9 Kwh of power, which is enough to refrigerate your beer and charge your electricals comfortably.

Water Conservation and Efficient Management

Water conservation is another key element of our sustainability efforts. At The Fort, we use advanced water management systems to minimize water waste and optimize its usage throughout the property. Our water system includes water filtration and natural reuse technologies to ensure efficient water usage.

We use grey water for landscape irrigation and facility maintenance. Black water is also naturally filtered and cleaned through the efficient use of septic tanks. We have also pledged our reduction of water use by installing dry toilets in the dorms. This not only reduces our environmental impact but also conserves precious natural resources.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

The hostel’s sustainability initiatives go beyond energy and water. We are dedicated to the cause and have adapted our way of operating the business in the least impactful way possible. A few of our implementations at The Fort include:

Eco-friendly and biodegradable products for cleaning and operation.
Compost making system for all food waste from the kitchen.
Waste Management: Recycling cans and steering clear of single use plastics. We do not sell plastic bottles at the bar but provide free drinking water on tap.
Sourcing local produce and farming our own produce for operation.
Installation of energy efficient lighting and appliances to minimize energy consumption.
